MOAC (MOAC) – The Mother of All Chains

What is MOAC?

MOAC is an acronym for Mother of all Chains and it is a multi-layered blockchain ecosystem. The architecture consists of Sharding, advanced smart contracts and cross-chain capabilities through atomic swaps.

There is a root-layer chain called “MotherChain” which serves as an anchor to all “Microchains.” Every value transaction is done on the Motherchain whereas Microchains function as child chains and are responsible for smart contract execution.

Every MicroChain is capable of connecting with other blockchains, including the ones outside the MOAC-ecosystem and is capable of running various virtual machines.

The consensus mechanism for the MotherChain is Proof-of-Work and inside the MicroChains various consensus systems, including Proof-of-Stake, can be implemented. Each MicroChains is individually configured. Other features of the MOAC platform are BaaS, data storage, and developer APIs.

The internal currency of the system is called MOAC and is issued as an ERC20 token at the start; it will be swapped to a native asset on the MOAC blockchain when it is fully developed and live. The block time is 10 seconds, and the block reward is currently 2 MOACs each block. Every ~4 years the block reward will be halved until a constant rate of 0.1 MOAC per block is achieved.

History

An ICO was held from 20. June to 5. July 2017 where 125 000 000pre-mined MOAC tokens were sold. The team behind MOAC is based in China.

Can it be mined?

Yes, the MOAC MotherChain is based on Proof-of-Work. The mining algorithm is supposedly Ethash.

What differs it from other Cryptocurrencies?

It features a multi-layer blockchain system where every child chain can be individually configurated and can have a different consensus mechanism than the underlying root-chain.

How much is MOAC worth today?

What is the total and the circulating supply?

The maximum supply is uncapped. The total supply of MOAC is 56,483,386 and the circulating supply at the time of writing is 35,897,055 MOAC.

You can buy on several cryptocurrency exchanges, most notably Bit-Z and Coinbene.

Can MOAC be sold for cash?

At the moment you cannot sell MAOC for cash directly. You have to exchange MOAC to BTC or ETH and sell that for cash.

Future Development

The MOAC mainnet is live and operating. A roadmap was not published, although their new website is currently under construction. There is little activity on Github, so development doesn’t seem to be very active. But there is a block explorer for the mainnet.

Verdict and Rating

3/10 Interesting Blockchain-as-a-Service solution, but nothing new. There are already fully operational solutions to the specific use-cases that MOAC is targeting. GitHub is active, but very little activity. The team is little unknown in the blockchain world, LinkedIn- or other social media accounts of members have not been found.

This doesn’t mean much as the project is based in China and it is not unusual for Chinese projects that there is little information to be found at the start. But I would still be careful and wait a while to see how this project evolves. Too much risk for too little reward at this stage of development.
